A man was hospitalised and several injured during a brawl involving soccer fans at a Melbourne hotel on Saturday.
The fight started in the Royal Melbourne Hotel, in Bourke Street, between fans of Melbourne Victory and the Western Sydney Wanderers.
A hotel worker said a signboard was torn down and several chairs were damaged in the stoush.
Police spokeswoman Belinda Batty said police were investigating but no arrests had been made.
‘‘We responded to reports of fighting outside a licensed premises about 3.30pm.
‘‘Altercations included some flares being set off, chairs and glasses broken and four people injured.’’
Ambulance Victoria spokesman Ray Rowe said a man in his early 20s was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with upper body injuries.
He is in a stable condition.
‘‘Paramedics on scene assessed two other males but they declined to go to hospital.’’
Hotel management declined to comment.
Last month, a Melbourne Victory fan from Victoria was stabbed in central Sydney after an A-League match between Sydney FC and Victory.
Victory and the Wanderers will clash at 7.45pm at AAMI Park.
According to one spectator, large numbers of police were on the ground and spectators were being padded down before they were allowed to enter the grounds.
