A man wanted over the murder of a self-declared vampire and sex worker 10 years ago is due to be extradited from Perth to Melbourne today.

Mark Adrian Perry, 45, has been charged with the murder of Shane Chartres Abbott in 2003 and is expected to face court in Melbourne on Friday.

Earlier this year, police offered a $1 million reward for his arrest.

Perry was taken into custody at his workplace in Perth.

Chartres Abbott was found shot dead at his Reservoir home on the same day he was due in court on a charge of rape.

He was accused of leaving a woman lying unconscious in a South Yarra hotel room after raping her and biting off part of her tongue.

Two men are already serving time in prison for the murder.

Perry is expected to face the Melbourne Magistrates Court tomorrow.
