Car crashes into house in Melbourne - Yahoo!7 News

A woman has had a remarkable escape after a car smashed into her bedroom in Melbourne's southeastern suburbs early this morning.

Leanne Donaldson said she had been in bed for just a few minutes when the car came crashing into her house at Dandenong North, screeching to a halt within 30cm of her bed.

"I heard this loud bang initially and thought someone had hit something and then something came through my window," she told 7News.

"I was sat up screaming. It's the last thing I expected on a Sunday evening.

"It was very loud and very scary. I didn't know what was going on or what had happened."

Police say the driver clipped a parked car before losing control and crashing into the house.

Leanne's friend Warren Baker was in the lounge room and rushed into the bedroom to find the driver trying to get out.

"I told him 'stay in the car mate, do not try and get out, police are on their way'," he said.

The driver, a 37-year-old man from Dandenong North, refused a breath test.

A 7News camera crew was there as the man was arrested at his home just a few streets away.

He is due to appear in court this afternoon to face several driving charges.

Leanne said she was left shocked by the incident, but lucky that she had not been hurt.

"I was very lucky that it didn't hit me," she said.
