Woman charged over racist Melbourne train rant - Yahoo!7 News

Victorian Police have laid charges over a racist rant on a Melbourne train last week.

A 37-year-old woman allegedly abused an African man on the Craigieburn line train last Wednesday.

Passengers recorded the incident on mobile phones and called police, who removed the South Melbourne woman from the train and gave her a move-on order.

She has been charged with using obscene language in a public place, and with behaving in a riotous manner in a public place.

The woman was granted bail and will appear in court next month.

During the incident, the woman swore at fellow passengers and screamed, "it's my f***ing country".

"My grandfather was a sergeant in the Second World War," footage shows the woman shouting.

"This is what us original Aussies fought for, to keep you ... out."

Police say their investigation is ongoing and are calling for anyone else with vision of the incident to come forward.
