A WOMAN whose body was found at a house in inner Melbourne last week may have been murdered, police say.

A neighbour called police after finding 69-year-old Jeanette Moss dead in her Middle Park house about 10.45am last Wednesday.

Police are treating the death as suspicious.

Homicide Squad Detective Inspector John Potter said it is likely she was killed between Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

Ms Moss was last seen running errands on Tuesday morning in the local area in her green BMW, he said.

``We're not sure what's happened when she's returned home, which is why we're appealing for anyone with information to contact us,'' Det Insp Potter said.

``If anyone in the area remembers any suspicious activity around the apartment building last week, it's important that they share that information with us.''

Police would like to speak with anyone who saw Ms Moss running errands in the hours leading up to her death.

They would also like to speak to anyone who may be aware of any plans she had made to meet someone on Tuesday.

An information caravan will be run by police on Tuesday outside Ms Moss's home from 11.30am to 6.30pm in the search for more clues.
