Man charged with murder of top designer - Herald Sun

A MAN has been charged with the alleged murder of a leading Melbourne interior designer who died in a house fire in South Yarra.



Michael O'Neill, 47, of Prahran, faced an out-of-sessions hearing this morning charged with the murder of Stuart Rattle.


Mr O'Neill was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.


Mr Rattle, aged in his 50s, was found dead in the bedroom of his Malvern Road apartment on Monday morning.

Mr Rattle was a leading designer.



The fire was believed to have been caused by a candle and was thought to be an accident.


Investigations continued and police arrested Mr O'Neill this morning.


Mr Rattle was recognised this year for his landscaping at Musk Farm, a property he bought in 1998 west of the Macedon Ranges.


Last month he had opened his farm to the public to raise money for the Wombat Hill Botanic Garden in Daylesford.
