Toyota to cut 100 jobs in Melbourne - ABC Local

Updated October 15, 2013 12:19:19

Toyota is calling for up to 100 voluntary redundancies at its Altona manufacturing plant in Melbourne.

It says the decision is in response to a drop in export orders.

It says there will be no compulsory redundancies.

In a statement president and CEO Max Yasuda said it was a difficult decision to make but it was vital if the company wants to move towards global competitiveness.

"Our employees are our greatest asset, so it is with extreme sadness that we have to adjust our workforce," he said.
