MELBOURNE says up to five clubs are "genuinely interested" in trading for pick two in this year's draft.
But a deal for the coveted second pick won't involve Crows Bernie Vince and Jarryd Lyons.
The Demons are keen on both players, but say they haven't offered pick two as part of negotiations with the Crows.
The move would appeal to Adelaide, which could use the pick to land SA under-18 champion James Aish.
"Pick 2 is out there - and four or five clubs are genuinely interested," Melbourne football manager Josh Mahoney said on Adelaide radio today.
"Other clubs are ahead of the Crows on pick two.
"But our discussion with Adelaide on Bernie is not around pick two.
"Our discussion on Lyons is not around pick two."
New Demons coach Paul Roos met with Vince in Melbourne on Friday while the 2009 Crows club champion had an independent medical test. Vince also met with Greater Western Sydney officials in Sydney on Sunday before flying to the US for a holiday.
Melbourne's free agent compensation pick for losing Colin Sylvia to Fremantle could be part of a deal to get Vince and Lyons to the demons.
"Sylvia is about the same age and played a similar role to Vince," Mahoney said. "And our list profile at the moment can accommodate an older, more experienced player ... a big-bodied midfielder."
Lyons, 21, could be lured to Melbourne to join the club where his father Marty played 27 games in the mid-1970s.
"He is a player of interest for us - when he has played at AFL level he has looked good," Mahoney said. "But he is happy to stay at Adelaide."
Lyon was a fourth-round draftee (No.61) for Adelaide in 2011. His value has increased during his 12 AFL games in the past two years.
