A 12-0 rout of LaTrobe University gave Heart a chance to work in youngsters and give the star man his debut in red.
Melbourne Heart thrashed a LaTrobe University XI 12-0 on Wednesday night at Epping Stadium. David Williams scored five goals and Dylan Macallister added four more in the complete destruction of the amateur side. Harry Kewell was a half-time sub and assisted on Macallister's second and Iain Ramsey's goal late in the game. Rob Wielaert also debuted for the A-League side.
The overmatched university side could do little to slow Heart's forwards as Williams and trialist Billy Konstantinidis scored five goals in the first half, each from Mate Dugandžić crosses from the right side. The pre-season game was just the second for Heart as they ramp up preparations for the 2013/14 season. Kewell, Wielaert and new goalkeeper Tando Velaphi will play more significant minutes against more significant opponents as August and September roll on.
