A MAN has been charged with murder after the death of a man in Melbourne's northeast.
Homicide squad detectives charged the 59-year-old Heidelberg West man with the murder of a 31-year-old Craigieburn man in Heidelberg West on Friday night.
Emergency services were called to an Ebony Parade residence just after 9pm (AEDT) on Friday.
The 31-year-old sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Austin Hospital where he later died.
The 59-year-old faced an out of sessions hearing and was remanded to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates Court on November 5.
