THE man charged with recruiting overseas horses for the spring, Leigh Jordon, asked me recently how the Caulfield Cup could be better promoted overseas as a race in its own right, as opposed to a prep race for the Melbourne Cup.
My one-line reply was: the Caulfield Cup is worth more than the Champion Stakes (and is a lot more winnable).
