MELBOURNE University has slammed the Victorian state government's plans to drop requirements for elected staff and student representatives to be on university governing councils, warning that universities aren't just businesses.
The National Tertiary Education Union also attacked the legislation, but there was support for the changes from the University of Ballarat, La Trobe University and Victoria University.
