MELBOURNE: The signs are good that injured Melbourne Storm skipper Cameron Smith will play in Sunday's NRL elimination final against Canterbury after completing their final training run.

The Storm had a hit-out at AAMI Park before their sudden-death match, with Smith taking part.

The captain had spent most of the week in a moon-boot and on crutches after suffering high ankle sprain in their last-round victory over Brisbane.

Melbourne five-eighth Ben Roberts said a final decision would be made on game day on Smith dependent on how his ankle recovered from the training run.

"Cameron trained with us today and did what was expected of him," Smith said.

"We'll leave it until tomorrow morning and see how he pulls up and make a decision from there."
