Melbourne Hub: Real Housewives Of Melbourne's Gina controversially brands Lydia a prostitute

She's the over-the-top housewife that the ladies have been sinking their claws into all season.

But the tables were turned on Sunday night's reunion special when Gina Liano's most candid opinions were aired in front of her Real Housewives Of Melbourne co-stars, the most controversial of which was directed squarely at sex-obsessed Lydia Schiavello.

'She's got a prostitute's mentality. She sells herself for money,' Gina snapped.

She married for money: The feisty brunette controversially accused Lydia of being a gold digger n the first of the two part special

The hairspray aficionado didn't hold back her opinion of the twice married brunette, which brought gasps of shock from the other housewives and host Alex Perry.

'I'm really quite surprised!' stuttered Lydia in the first of a controversy-filled two part reunion special.

'I mean we all have sex, and you do too!'

Appearing to have only understood the superficial meaning of the insult, she continued: 'I love it. I'm not afraid to say it, I think it's quite a beautiful thing.'

Feeling the need to clarify her comment for her 'brainless' fellow, Gina - a whirlwind of diamantes, fake tan and teased hair - turned to the programme's mediator and in no uncertain terms branded Lydia a gold digger.

Not backing down: Gina refused to hold back and claimed Lydia had only married for money

Pointing her perfectly manicured talons in the direction of her adversary, she said: 'She's only ever married for money.'

And turning directly to Lydia added: 'Take your husbands away and you would have nothing.'

'I don't understand how you could say that,' a shocked Lydia hit back, 'Firstly, you don't know my ex-husband. Secondly, I was 16 when I fell in love with the guy.

'I know the private things that went on in our marriage, you weren't in it. So why would you even say that?' she continued, noting on Janet's inquisition that when she met her first husband – the son of construction giant Tony Schiavello – he was penniless.

Of course he did have the wealth of his father's multi-million dollar company behind him, but that's a different matter.

'You don't have a job, you've told me you don't have to work. You don’t have a job,' the feisty barrister went on, insisting on hammering the same line.

'I have three children! So are you discrediting women at home?' replied Lydia.

'But I'm talking about an income,' snapped Gina, as the conversation veered into a heated discussion about working morthers.

'Absolutely (being a stay at home mum) is legitimate,' she said, 'Lydia's financially ambitious is what I'm trying to say.'

The bickering duo, who started the season as the best of friends, were joined by fellow housewives Janet Roach, Jackie Gillies, Andrea Moss and Chyka Keebaugh to comment on the most tension-stirring moments of series.

The night started peacefully enough as cameras followed the reality stars' arrival, but as each took their place on either side of the Sydney fashion designer, the mood quickly descended into a insult slinging war of words.

Gina and Lydia found another reason to but heads earlier in the night, when the topic of Lydia's overtly sexual nature was raised.

'I find it absolutely appalling,' said Gina of the brunette's dirty mind, and referring to when Lydia suggested her’s children were having sex on their couch added: 'I find it appalling when you talk about other people's children and their sexuality.'

'I don't find it entertaining at all. I feel embarrassed.'

Justifying her comments to Alex, Lydia said: 'Well her children have (had sex on the couch).'

'Why have you slept with them?' fired back the Italian mother-of-two, 'She probably has you know, she would.'
