MELBOURNE turned into the Emerald City tonight as key buildings became bathed in green light.

The green frenzy heralds the opening of Wicked on Saturday night at the Regent Theatre which is part of the 10th anniversary tour of the hit musical, telling the story behind The Wizard of Oz.
Lord Mayor Robert Doyle was joined by theatre veteran Reg Livermore, who plays the Wizard in the show, and some ensemble cast members to give Melbourne the green light.

Along with the Town Hall, the Regent Theatre will also be bathed in green, as well as the Forum Theatre, Manchester Unity Building, Sofitel on Collins and the trees that trim Collins Street.
