LEADING A-League goalscorer David Williams has re-signed with Melbourne Heart for another two years.
It is the first player re-signing announced by the club since Manchester City took over in January and follows on the heels of Wednesday’s appointment of John van ‘t Schip as coach for the next three seasons.
Williams, 26, has scored 11 times this season.
Having been at the club since 2011, he is also the club’s all-time leading scorer with 17 goals.
“David has proven his worth as one of the A-League’s most dangerous attackers and we are pleased to have him as part of our squad for next season,” van’t Schip said.
“He has not only offered his goal-scoring services this season, but has grown and developed further as a player, making him a truly exciting prospect.”
The club also announced that striker Michael Mifsud has been released.
Mifsud, who scored once in 14 games for the club, has returned to Malta.
