Melbourne Victory FC versus Brisbane Roar FC - Sydney Morning Herald

8:52pm: KICK-OFF - MV 0 BR 1 (Miller 28")

And with that Melbourne makes a substitution at the start of the second half with Mitch Nichols off and Jimmy Jeggo on.

Is Nichols being put in cotton wool ahead of a potential transfer to Japan? He did not appear to be hurt at the end of the first half.

8:50pm: HALF TIME - MV 0 BR 1 (Miller 28")

There were no substitutions in the first half.

Melbourne Victory bench: Mahazi, Jeggo, Galloway, Cristaldo, Thomas (gk).

Brisbane Roar bench: Hingert, Brown, Clut, Borrello, Acton (gk).

8:36pm: HALF TIME - MV 0 BR 1 (Miller 28")

Liam Miller's well-placed strike separates the teams at the break. Melbourne's Kosta Barbarouses must feel like his two good looks at goal should have had Melbourne leading this match instead.

8:35pm: 44.30 - MV 0 BR 1 (Miller 28")

Brattan hits his free kick into the wall and Broich balloons a second attempt from outside the area over the bar. There were six men in the Victory wall to stop the shot.

8:34pm: 43.30 - MV 0 BR 1 (Miller 28")

Great save by Coe to deny Henrique!

Brisbane swept in from the right with Henrique getting to the ball just before an advancing Coe...Coe didn't know much about the shot but did enough to deflect it away.

Brisbane wins a free kick outside the area in shooting range for Broich.

8:31pm: 40.30 - MV 0 BR 1 (Miller 28")

Frustration now for Melbourne in its attempts to get the ball back as Nichols and Barbarouses give away fouls in quick succession.

8:28pm: 37.00 - MV 0 BR 1 (Miller 28")

Brisbane are back on top with possesion after a couple of unsuccessful Melbourne forays in search of an equaliser.

8:27pm: 30.00 - MV 0 BR 1 (Miller 28")

Gui Finkler couldn't repeat his heroics from the previous week as his curling free kick from slightly off centre to the right went across the face and out for a goal kick.

8:24pm: Summary 0-25 mins - MV 0 BR 0

Melbourne's two best chances in the opening exchanges fell to Kosta Barbarouses.

Theo had to be sharp with the reflexes after Barbarouses stung his fingers in the 10th minute after running on to a through ball by Finkler.

In the 15th minute another Barbarouses chance was saved by Theo before a scramble in the six-yard box was cleared by the Roar.
