Emergency services have responded to 273 requests for help after wild winds swept across Melbourne.
Most of the calls involved trees and branches falling on roads and over homes, late on Thursday and early on Friday, Victoria's State Emergency Service spokesman Toby Borella said.
Damage is widespread throughout Melbourne but there are no reports of injuries at this stage, he says.
"As people are waking up this morning we would like to remind them to take a look at their properties and check if there is any damage and then be cautious when driving on the roads today," Mr Borella said.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a damaging wind warning for Thursday and forecast strong northerly winds of about 60km/h, gusting up to 100km/h, in Melbourne and southern Victoria.
