Police are investigating the death of a man who was involved in an altercation in North Melbourne last night.
The 28-year-old North Melbourne man died in the Royal Melbourne hospital after being hit by a car in Dryburgh Street just after 6:30pm (AEST).
It is believed he had been involved in an altercation with another man just before he was hit.
Detective Senior Constable Toby Dernelley says the 47-year-old Keilor Downs man who was driving the car has been questioned and released while police continue their investigations.
"Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen a dark Audi driving in the area or any raised voices," he said.
"It does appear at this stage as though the males were known to each other."
