Driver crashes into diners at Melbourne restaurant - Yahoo!7 News

Three people were injured when a man crashed his car into a Thai restaurant in Melbourne's west last night.

Police say the 57-year-old Glenroy driver veered across a median strip of Aviation Road at Laverton before crashing through the front window of the Fresh Chilli restaurant about 10:30pm.

His car hit a three people who were eating at a table and forced them to the back of the building.

A man and two women were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police allege the man was three times over the legal alcohol limit and that he returned a reading of 0.179 per cent when he was tested after the crash.

The driver is assisting police with their enquiries.

Phil Taylor from the MFB says it was a scary scene for the patrons.

"If you're sitting in the front window of a restaurant and then have a van crash through like that - it's something that you wouldn't even think would happen," he said.
