MELBURNIANS woke to a chilly start this morning but are warned to brace for more frosty temperatures to come.
The mercury dipped to a fresh 6.7C in Melbourne this morning and temperatures are not expected to thaw any time soon, with more wind, rain and lower temperatures forecast for next week.
Beaureau of Meterology Forecaster Peter Newham said Victorians may be feeling the cold, but the worst was still on its way.
“With the change in weather pattern, by Friday or Saturday next week we should have some rain and colder temperatures,” he said.
It could be good news for snow lovers with a drop in temp bringing the first significant snowfall after a slow start to the ski season.
While Mt Hotham has 12cm of snow, most of it is man-made.
Executive Assistant of Mt Hotham Resort Management Bree Burgmann said the slow start still hasn’t kept the visitors away.
“We’ve managed to designate a toboggan area, a few beginner runs and an intermediate run so we’ve had a few families up here,” she said.
