HOMICIDE Squad detectives are urging a man to surrender himself to police after a woman was shot dead at St Albans this morning.
Police were called to a Currumghi Court home at 5am, where they found the body of a 21-year-old woman.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ron Iddles said police were still interviewing witnesses.
‘‘There were probably about four or five people in the house at this location,’’ he said.
‘‘A firearm was discharged in the house.
‘‘One female, aged about 21, is now deceased.
‘‘The other occupants of the house are back at Sunshine assisting the police.
‘‘We’re interested in a guy who’s about 23 who left here shortly after 5am.’’
He said police only the first name of a man described as about 195 centimetres and well built, who left the scene in a small red car.
‘‘We understand he is known to the occupants so we’re appealing to him to surrender himself and come forward,’’ Detective Senior Sergeant Iddles said.
Police say there was no drugs dispute at the house, although there were signs of illicit drug use.
Investigators remain at the scene.
In a different incident overnight, police charged a man with murder after the body of a man was found at a Seabrook home.
Police were called to a Beleura Way home at Seabrook at about 8.30pm, where they found the body of a 28-year-old Altona Meadows man.
A Seabrook man, 32, was arrested at the scene and later charged with murder. He has been remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court tomorrow.
