Melbourne Rebels' Beale out for at least 3 more weeks during alcohol counselling - Victoria Times Colonist

MELBOURNE, Australia - Kurtley Beale isn't expected to return for the Melbourne Rebels for at least another three weeks while he undergoes counselling for alcohol-related issues, leaving him in jeopardy of missing Australia's three-test series against the British and Irish Lions.

Incoming Rebels chief executive Rob Clarke told The Australian newspaper that Beale's "program has to follow its course and Kurtley won't be playing until it does."

The first test is on June 22, giving the backline utility player very little time to prove himself to Wallabies selectors.

Beale was stood down in late March after being sent home from South Africa for fighting with two Melbourne teammates after a Super 15 match. Earlier this week, police dropped assault charges against him dating back to last year because he reached a mediated agreement with his alleged victim.
