A speeding motorcyclist is accused of leading police on a dangerous chase through inner Melbourne, allegedly running several red lights and a stop sign before being captured.
The pursuit began when officers detected the 26-year-old travelling about 50km/h over the limit on the Westgate Freeway late Friday night, police said.
The rider allegedly sped away from police, at one point travelling along the wrong side of the road and running at least three red lights through Port Melbourne and South Melbourne.
The man then dumped his bike on the upper level of an apartment complex carpark on Whiteman Street and left the building on foot, only to be arrested by waiting officers.
Police said the 26-year-old Southbank man was set to face a raft of charges including conduct endangering life and driving in a dangerous manner.
