Melbourne Victory players will exchange home truths on Tuesday, behind closed doors, after the humiliating 5-0 loss to Brisbane Roar.

Marquee midfielder Marcos Flores offered no excuses for the club's worst defeat, at the hands of coach Ange Postecoglou's former side at Suncorp Stadium.

He said the players would still be smarting when they returned to the training track on Tuesday after a day off.

Flores said the players would have an honest discussion followed by a high-octane training session before Friday night's game at Etihad Stadium against his former club, Adelaide United.

"We will talk between ourselves and say whatever needs to be said," Flores said.

"We need to be completely honest with each other but also loyal.

"We want to wake up, and it starts at training. We want to be strong.

"I didn't see one teammate laugh on the whole trip (to Brisbane) and that's normal to feel this frustration.

"We need to use that frustration at training this week and in the game on Friday."

Flores said Victory had been outplayed in every department by the A-League champions.

"We decided to punch with Brisbane and they did everything better than us," Flores said.

"I don't want to find excuses . . . we have to work double and push 100 per cent harder, but I'm upset and we are all upset.

"I'm not the coach. The coach will know what they did better, but on the pitch they did everything better.

"If someone told me we would concede seven (goals) in two games and score one, I would never believe them. We have to not only play well but show character to lift.

"I promise the supporters and I promise my team that this is not the real Victory.

"We will turn it around."

Victory will welcome back Archie Thompson, Mark Milligan and Marco Rojas, presuming they return fit from international duty.

Flores said their absence could not be used as an excuse for the loss.

"They are good players but I have to respect the guys who came in, they tried very hard," Flores said.

"We're not a three-man team. We have 11 on the pitch and 22 in the squad."
