A 15-year-old boy has been caught allegedly driving at almost three times the speed limit in Mulgrave, in Melbourne's south-east.
Police said they recorded the boy driving at 220 kilometres per hour (kph) in an 80 kph zone on the Princes Highway at 2:15am (AEDT).
When officers stopped the car they found six passengers, aged between 15 and 17, inside and four of them were not wearing seatbelts.
The car caught police attention when one of passengers yelled abuse out the window towards a parked police patrol car.
Officers then followed the car and allegedly clocked the car being driven at more than 200 kph.
The car slowed when officers activated their lights, before pulling over in Peters Avenue, police said.
The teenage driver from Hampton Park was released pending summons.
He is expected to be charged with traffic offences including excessive speed, conduct endangering life, and unlicensed driving.
The registered owner of the car, a 17-year-old from Pakenham, was one of the unrestrained passengers, police said.
The car has been impounded for 30 days, and the owner will have to pay more than $700 to have it returned.
