House fire in Melbourne's south-east causes $750k worth of damage - 9news.com.au

A double-story home has gone up in flames in Malvern East in Melbourne's south-east overnight. (9NEWS)



Twenty-five firefighters have extinguished a fierce blaze at a two storey home in Melbourne's south-east last night.


Three people were inside the two-storey weatherboard home on Fountaine Ave in Malvern East when they smelled smoke and evacuated the property.


Fire crews brought the fire under control at 11.18pm and prevented it from spreading to adjoining homes.


It's believed the blaze caused $750,000 worth of damage.


The Metropolitan Fire Brigade said they would investigate the cause of the fire today.
