MELBOURNE coach Paul Roos was speechless when told one of his players was dressed as convicted child sex predator Rolf Harris for the club’s Monday Monday celebrations.

A photo posted to Melbourne defender Dean Terlich’s Instagram account showed him wearing a grey wig, facial hair and glasses along with an eccentric and colourful shirt, jacket and tie combination, typical attire of the disgraced entertainer.

Next to him was teammate Alex Georgiou, wearing a checkered red dress and wig with pigtails and bows.

“I find it hard to believe a couple of players could turn up like that and as a footy club … (we are) completely unhappy with their behaviour,” the Melbourne coach said.

“It’s unacceptable and I unreservedly apologise to anyone that we have offended.”

Roos said the pair was extremely embarrassed and remorseful.

“The problem with days like yesterday is they just don’t think,” Roos said.

“There is no malice. There is just no thought process (that) goes into it and I think that is the worst part about it.”

Harris, 84, was jailed for five years and nine months after being convicted on 12 counts of indecent assault.

Social media has been filled with photos from AFL players celebrating Mad Monday.

The end-of-season festivities began for 10 teams who didn’t qualify for the finals, including Gold Coast, Brisbane Lions and Greater Western Sydney.

Geelong sparked controversy in 2011 when Jimmy Bartel and Mitch Duncan dressed up as disgraced player agent Ricky Nixon and the “St Kilda schoolgirl”.
