Dozens of domestic flights and three international flights have been either delayed or diverted by a thick blanket of fog in Melbourne on Tuesday.


And there are predictions some parts of Melbourne will not see sunlight all day as the shroud sets in - with forecasts it will continue until Wednesday afternoon.


Melbourne Airport spokeswoman Anna Gillett said about a dozen departing flights and a dozen arrivals were affected by the fog.

Three international flights - VA54, QF10 and QF94 - were diverted to other airports, the first two to Adelaide and the latter to Sydney.
