Woman released without charge after newborn baby found dead on Melbourne ... - ABC Online

Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a newborn baby after police found the infant's body on a footpath in St Albans in Melbourne's west.


Police made the grim discovery in Ruth Street after a family member reported the death about 3pm on Wednesday afternoon.


Police arrived at a St Alban's property and found the infant's body on a nearby path.


Authorities said the exact circumstances surrounding the death are unknown.


Police said an 18-year-old St Albans woman was assisting their inquiries and an autopsy was set to be performed last night.
