THE most hyped show in a long time belongs to six housewives in Melbourne.
You can’t drive around the city without seeing the billboards for Foxtel’s The Real Housewives of Melbourne.
It’s the Australian version of the American show that has turned everyday women in to reality television superstars in the US.
Melbourne won out over Sydney.
After months of casting, producers chose property developer Janet Roach, barrister Gina Liano, architectural student Lydia Schiavello, catering queen Chyka Keebaugh, psychic Jackie Gillies and businesswoman Andrea Moss.
Moss, who runs the Liberty Belle skin care centre in Toorak alongside her husband, plastic surgeon Dr Chris Moss, said the show would promote Melbourne around the world.
“I think this is going to be so good for Melbourne,’’ she said.
“Why shouldn’t Australia have a show like this? The rest of the world has one.
“I think everyone will be impressed. The Australian girls are very different to the girls in the US.
“Those girls have lives, they have the luxury, whereas Australian women really work hard for what they want.”
It’s not only lunches and parties, like the US version, there is some serious tension between the girls — and it’s real.
The show premieres on Arena at 8.30pm next Sunday.
