Three people have died after a car hit a pedestrian and collided with another vehicle in Melbourne's south-east.
Officers say a 45-year-old man was killed when he was hit by the car while crossing Dandenong Road at Oakleigh, shortly after 11:30pm (AEDT).
The car then crashed into a second vehicle and two occupants of the second vehicle were killed.
Detective Senior Sergeant Gerard Clanchy, from the Major Collision Investigation Unit, says the car may have been speeding.
"We have had witnesses reporting to us that the white Kia Cerato was travelling at excessive speed," he said.
"Also witnesses have indicated that the traffic camera lights at the intersection were activated by the white Kia."
The 29-year-old driver of the car is in hospital with serious injuries.
