Scott Edges Kuchar by 2 for Title in Melbourne - New York Times


Adam Scott shot a scrambling par 71 for a two-shot victory and a successful defense of his Australian Masters title at wind-swept Royal Melbourne.




The American Matt Kuchar, who led by two strokes with four to play, double-bogeyed the 18th after taking two shots to get out of a bunker and finished second with a 68.


■ Henrik Stenson won the season-ending World Tour Championship after shooting an eight-under-par 64 in the final round in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, becoming the first golfer to win the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup and the European Tour’s Race to Dubai in the same season. Stenson, a Swede, had six birdies in the final round before finishing with an eagle at the 18th hole that left him at 25 under for the tournament. (AP)


■ Harris English won the rain-delayed OHL Classic for his second PGA Tour title, pulling away for a four-stroke victory in a 29-hole finish at Mayakoba in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. English, 24, a former star at the University of Georgia, finished at 21-under 263. Brian Stuard shot a 67 to finish second. (AP)
