CCTV: Elderly man narrowly misses being hit by train in Melbourne - Telegraph.co.uk

In the CCTV footage, the elderly man can be seen staggering on the platform at Boronia station in Melbourne before falling onto the tracks as a train approaches.

The train driver slams on the brakes and manages to bring the train to a halt inches away from where the man is lying.

Paramedics can be seen rushing to help the man on the tracks, who suffered minor leg injuries in the incident.

Senior Sergeant Wayne Fielding said that the elderly man was lucky to be alive.

"Half a second later and the coroner may have been involved," he said.

The elderly man remains in hospital in a stable condition. The train driver has reportedly had to undergo counselling following the incident on November 5.
