UPDATE: TRAVELLERS in Melbourne were given a fright this morning after a kangaroo was discovered in an airport pharmacy.

"The kangaroo appears to have been injured and made its way in there and is being held inside the pharmacy for its own safety," Melbourne Airport spokeswoman Anna Gillett said.

A witness told 3AW that police were on the scene to attend to the matter.

Comedian Julia Morris was at Melbourne Airport this morning and was shocked to see the kangaroo bounding into the pharmacy.

Melbourne Airport confirmed the kangaroo was not trapped inside the pharmacy, and they were awaiting medical personnel to come in and treat the animal.

Wildlife officers managed to rescue and remove the kangaroo from the pharmacy a short time later.

It is not the first time travellers have been greeted by a roo at Tullamarine this year, after one got loose in the Melbourne Airport carpark in January.
