English raider Forgotten Voice is among the 10 entries for Wednesday's Geelong Cup, which will see six horses vying for a ticket into this year's Melbourne Cup.

The Nicky Henderson-trained nine-year-old, who has won over hurdles in England, just missed out on a place in the Caulfield Cup field when listed as first emergency.

Now Forgotten Voice, who sits 38th in the latest order of entry for the Melbourne Cup - which will be updated after the Caulfield Cup - is looking to use prizemoney for the Group Three race to push it into the Cup field.

The Geelong Cup has become an increasingly popular lead-up race for the Melbourne Cup, with Bauer and Media Puzzle going on to place or win at Flemington after winning over 2,400m at Geelong.

Also named in the field are the Robert Hickmott-trained Tanby (30th in the order of entry), the Pat Carey-trained Brigantin (37th), the Peter Moody-trained Ibicenco (40th), Team Hawkes' Polish Knight (46th) and Ciaron Maher's Moudre, which is yet to pass the first ballot clause for the Cup.

Tanby has drawn barrier three, Forgotten Voice will start from barrier six, Ibicenco has drawn barrier eight and Moudre the inside barrier.

Other horses in the field include Crafty Cruiser (barrier 10) ,Verdant (barrier two), Goldini (barrier seven) and Warwarick (barrier four).

In other news on Monday, handicapper Greg Carpenter issued a 1.5kg Melbourne Cup penalty to Fawkner for his slashing win in Saturday's Caulfield Cup, giving him a new weight of 54.5kg.
