The Melbourne Victory is deep in talks with Football Federation Australia (FFA) over the release of Ange Postecoglou from his duties with the A-League club.
Postecoglou remains the hot favourite to become the next Socceroos' coach but the Victory and FFA need to thrash out a compensation deal with Postecoglou, who is signed on until the middle of 2015.
"We might be making some comment later today. We will go and have some breakfast first," Melbourne Victory chief executive Ian Robson told Fox Sports on Tuesday morning.
"There are conversations going on and, for the moment, we want to keep those conversations directly with the FFA.".
Postecoglou could not guarantee on Tuesday that he would be coaching in Friday night's A-League clash with early competition pacesetters Brisbane at Docklands.
"We will see what happens," said Postecoglou when asked if would be at the helm against the Roar.
Holger Osieck was sacked earlier this month following a three-year stint as Socceroos coach which included successfully qualifying for next year's World Cup before successive 6-0 losses to Brazil and France in friendlies proved too grim for the FFA.
