Firefighters are still working to extinguish a blaze at a West Melbourne car dealership that broke out last night.
Ten people were evacuated from Gran Turismo Autos in Spencer Street at about 8:00pm (AEST).
The upper storey was extensively damaged, while around a dozen cars on the ground floor received minor damage.
Firefighters say the fire has been hard to access.
Acting Commander Brian Currie says the fire has been contained but it has been difficult to access.
"The fire was at the very back, in a storage area which has fallen in on itself," he said.
"The firefighters have had to work very, very hard to get in and once they get in they're finding it very, very hard to access the fire and put water on it."
He says crews have been kept away from one section of the building which has cracked.
"Whenever we see cracks in a brick wall, we always pull back and keep our firefighters away from that," he said.
"As a result, we've got firefighters well away from that section of the building."
Spencer Street is blocked inbound between Rosslyn and Dudley Streets.
