THE Royal Melbourne Show kicked off with a bang today with thousands flocking to the Showgrounds to have some fun in the sun.
Families travelled from across Victoria to enjoy the rides, snap up showbags and gorge on the state's freshest food in balmy 21C weather.
Rachel Brown and Ron Kenworthy trekked from Bendigo with kids Braydon, 9, Riley, 9, and Matilda, 6, to follow the Super Show Trail Bag.

"We've been going to all the pavilions. It's been really good," Ms Brown said.

Braydon was also hanging out for a showbag. "I want one with lots of lollies," he said.
Adrian and Bree Lee of Melbourne took their kids - Archer, 2, and Koby, five months - to see the adorable animal nursery.
"It's the first time for the kids," Mr Lee said.
"It's a magnificent day."
Day one highlights included the frisbee dogs, Bello Nock's Sky Walk and all the action at the Entertainment Dome.

Crowds also packed old favourites the Weekly Times Livestock Pavilion, the Herald Sun Showbag Pavilion and, of course, the carnival rides.
Hungry hordes flocked to the Tastes of Victoria Pavilion and lines went out the door of the CWA Kitchen, renowned for its delectable scones.
A quirky marching band, playing Lady Gaga songs, entertained show-goers.
The Show runs until October 2.
