As first revealed on the 3AW Breakfast Rumour File, the once colourful Rutledge Lane is now monochrome.

RUMOUR CONFIRMED: A Melbourne laneway has been painted entirely blue - bins, roads and all - by a street artist aiming to 'raise the bar'.


As first revealed on the 3AW Breakfast Rumour File, the once colourful Rutledge Lane is now monochrome.


The laneway was drenched in 'Empty Nursery Blue' yesterday by street artist Adrian Doyle, who claims to have invented the colour while on the dole.

This morning


He said his work has caused a stir in the street art community.


"There's been some haters out there, I went over some pretty important pieces," he told Ross and John.


"As soon as I finished, there were kids with spray cans ready to go over it.


"It took me ages, took me the whole day.


"Melbourne's the street art capital of the world and we need to keep raising the bar."


Asked if he's related to Melbourne's Lord Mayor, Robert Doyle, Doyle responded: "Nah, I'm just white trash done good," he said.


It got the tick of approval street from art novices Ross and John, who labelled the upgrade "grouse", despite being confused by the term "white trash".
