Some of Auckland's socialites gathered at the Viaduct Harbour this morning for a special showcase of the Melbourne Cup and this year's raceday fashions.
Guests included Miss World New Zealand 2013, Ella Liliane Langsford, NZ's Next Top Model judge Colin Mathura-Jeffree and Mr Gray – a thoroughbred racing horse.
Legendary Melbourne Cup-winning jockey John Letts also made an appearance, along with Victoria Racing Club Chairman Amanda Elliot.
The 18-carat gold cup - valued at $200,000 - sat proudly on its stand while guests sipped champagne and adjusted one another's fascinators.
Models strutted the catwalk in the latest spring racewear from upmarket Australian department store Myer.
The $7.1 million Melbourne Cup is held annually on the first Tuesday of November. It attracts stars from around the world each year, most recently including Prince Charles and his wife Camilla.
