A young woman has chased a man from her South Melbourne bedroom in a terrifying home invasion this morning.
The woman, aged in her 20s, woke around 4am to find a man in her Park Street bedroom searching through her belongings.
The woman chased the man from her bedroom, but not before he grabbed her handbag and mobile phone.
However, she didn't give up.
She grabbed hold of the burglar's backpack and after a short tug-of-war he ripped the bag away and fled.
The woman was not injured in the confrontation.
Investigators would like to speak to anyone who saw a man wearing a red hooded jumper and dark pants in the area at the time of the aggravated burglary.
