Police have released security footage of a robber who used a note demanding cash and claiming he was armed during two hold-ups in Melbourne.
The man first tried it on at a gaming venue in Moonee Ponds on Sunday night.
But when the cashier alerted a colleague, the man snatched the note back and fled empty-handed.
He had more luck at a Yarraville Ponds liquor store later in the night, escaping with a small amount of cash.
Believed to be of Middle Eastern appearance with a dark-coloured beard, he was wearing a beanie under a black zip-up hoodie and jeans.
Police are hoping someone may recognise the man in the CCTV footage and call them.
