The Canaries forward has two years left on his contract but the arrival of Ricky van Wolfswinkel has cast doubt over his future at Carrow Road amid interest from the A-League club
Norwich City striker Grant Holt is being pursued by Melbourne Heart, the Australian club’s chief executive has confirmed.
Holt was tracked by the A-League club in January and the side reportedly saw a bid last turned down last month having failed to meet Norwich’s valuation of the player.
The 32-year-old recently hinted at a summer exit following the imminent arrival of Ricky van Wolfswinkel from Sporting Lisbon and Heart’s chief executive Scott Munn has confirmed their interest in signing the player.
"We made an approach and we always knew that it would be made public and that with him being contracted for two more years it might be complicated," Munn told Australian broadcaster SBS.
"We haven't closed the door on it as yet and will be pursuing it. He's a proven finisher and showed that by scoring against Manchester City on the last day of the Premier League season."
Holt previously played in Australia with Sorrento during a month’s loan in 2001 while at Halifax Town, before working his way up to the Premier League with Norwich.
Since winning promotion to the top-flight, the Canaries skipper has scored 23 league goals over two seasons, helping the Norfolk outfit to retain their Premier League status.
