Melbourne teenager finds his voice - Ninemsn

April 09, 2013: Teenager Harrison Craig brought The Voice mentors to a halt, overcoming his speech impediment to sing Broken Vow at his blind audition.

Melbourne teenager Harrison Craig has battled a speech impediment since childhood, but that wasn't going to stop the young singer from giving the performance of a lifetime last night.

The 18-year-old contestant told The Voice that growing up with a stutter had been "quite a challenge," particularly at primary school.

"I did get picked on quite a lot," he said.

But at nine years old, Harrison began singing in a boys’ choir and discovered a powerful singing voice.

"Since then I've been singing my heart out I guess," he said.

Coaches on last night's episode of The Voice were wowed by his stunning rendition of Lara Fabian's Broken Vow, with all four vying for his selection.

"It's voices like that that makes guys like me want to coach," Seal told the talented youngster, while mother Janine and brother Connor hugged and cried backstage.

When asked about his music, Harrison told the coaches it was his dream to become a global recording artist.

"Ever since I could talk I’ve had a stutter so it's kind of great to get up here and perform so passionately. It's beautiful, I love it so much," he said.

After careful consideration Harrison chose British soul artist Seal as his coach, to the disappointment of the remaining Voice coaches Joel Madden, Delta Goodrem and Ricky Martin.
