A HOTEL room accident after Melbourne Storm's successful World Club Challenge campaign has put winger Sisa Waqa on the sidelines for up to two months.

The Fijian flyer cut his hand on broken glass and required surgery after scans in Melbourne revealed he had damaged tendons.

Waqa’s injury couldn’t have come at a worse time with Storm set to open its 2013 campaign next Sunday against St George Illawarra.

Coach Craig Bellamy gets an early test of his squad’s depth with Kiwi winger Matt Duffie still recovering from a hamstring strain and unlikely to be ready for round one.

Hard-running forward Kevin Proctor is also likely to miss the first month of the season with a knee complaint.

The Storm boys returned to training today after arriving from their World Club Challenge win over Leeds on Wednesday.
