EXCITEMENT machine Majak Daw has been ruled out of North Melbourne's NAB Cup clash against Gold Coast with knee soreness.

The Roos revealed today Daw would not be in the 25-man squad that will travel to Townsville for Saturday's game.

Daw, who has been promoted to the senior list for 2013 after two years as a rookie, showed his explosive talents in North Melbourne's opening NAB Cup wins against Melbourne and Richmond.

The Sudanese-born ruckman reported swelling in both knees after the games.

His absence will give former Sydney-listed ruckman Daniel Currie a chance to push his claims as the club's No.2 big man behind Todd Goldstein.

Meanwhile, West Coast is set to recall some big names for its NAB Cup encounter with Collingwood at Patersons Stadium on Sunday.

Dean Cox (dislocated finger), Matt Rosa (hamstring), Josh Kennedy (ankle) and Brad Sheppard (thumb) are all set to make their first appearances of the pre-season.

Former Demon Cale Morton is also set to play his first game in Eagles colours.

And St Kilda will name Sam Fisher, Shaun Dempster and Rhys Stanley for its clash against Sydney on Sunday, but Nick Riewoldt and Lenny Hayes have been held back another week.

Yesterday, Hawthorn recalled star midfielders Sam Mitchell, Jordan Lewis and Brad Sewell for its second-round match against the Western Bulldogs tomorrow night.
