Three teenagers die in Melbourne crash - Sky News Australia

Three teenagers die in Melbourne crash

Three teenagers have died in a single-vehicle crash in Melbourne's north.

Police believe a Toyota sedan was headed south on Pascoe Vale Road, near Barry Road, Coolaroo, when it veered off the road and hit a wall just after midnight (AEDT).

Three occupants of the vehicle died at the scene. Two teenage boys, aged 15 and 16, were taken to hospital with life threatening injuries.

'The great sad thing about this is that all the occupants of that car are teenagers and young teenagers at that,' Detective Sergeant Mark Amos told ABC radio.

Police are yet to formally identify any of the deceased.

The 16-year-old injured boy who suffered head and leg injuries was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition, Ambulance Victoria paramedic team manager Jonathon McKeown said. A 15-year-old boy suffering abdominal injuries was also taken to the Royal Childrens Hospital in a critical condition.

A third boy, 14, was taken to the Royal Childrens Hospital in a stable condition.

Police are asking any witnesses to contact them.

The crash takes the state's road toll to 242 compared with 234 this time last year.
